A great day for America, not so good for liberal Washington

Simply amazing. Thousands lined the streets of major U.S. cities to protest big government. They brought their homemade signs with thoughtful messages (none of that "Bush = Hitler" crap). They brought along their children. They demonstrated peacefully. And best of all, they chanted "USA" whenever given the chance.

The success of Tax Day tea parties is revealing in many ways:

• It proved that ordinary citizens do care. They care about their kids' future, their families, and more importantly, their beloved country.
• It proved that the Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress are very out of touch with America. President Obama pretends he's never heard of these tea parties, further insulting Americans' intelligence.
• It got on the nerves of the liberal mainstream media big time. Why else would they refuse to cover them? Or why would CNN's Susan Roesgen make an ass of herself on national TV? More evidence of the MSM's leftist alignment with the current administration.
• It also promoted the FairTax! (Hey, Chuck Morris is a believer!)
• It demonstrated that conservatives are even better with grassroots organization. These parties were not led or organized by political parties, established organizations, etc. They were organized by volunteers around the country. Conservatives get the last laugh when it comes to utilizing technology.

Nashville, Tennessee: 10,000. Rochester, NY: 1,000. Cincinnati: 4,000. Madison, Wisconsin: 8,000. Chicago: 4,000. Olympia, Washington: 5,000. Boise, Idaho: 2,500. Austin, TX: 1,500. Lansing, Michigan: 7,000. Jacksonville, FL: 2,000. Atlanta: 20,000. And that's only the tip of an iceberg...

And those ACORN or liberal saboteurs? Probably decided to stay home and watch the rallies on TV instead. I have no doubt that they secretly tuned into Fox News tonight.

Forget about the vast right-wing conspiracy. You need to read about the ginormous ("gigantic" and "enormous") left-wing conspiracy. Happening right in front of your eyes.

Still any doubt of the mainstream media not being a left-leaning establishment?

Video of Biden's daughter doing cocaine?

There is trouble in the domestic front -- V.P. Joe Biden's family and by extension, the White House family. Somebody has video of Ashley Biden, or somebody who resembles her, at a party enjoying a few lines of cocaine.

If the video is truly evidence of Ashley's drug use, then we can expect the standard "children are off limits" spin from the W.H. and the Second Family. I predict the mainstream media burying this story. We're likely going to see another fine example of media double standard: Remember how the media portrayed the Bush twins' college drinking? Or how about the pregnancy of Gov. Palin's daughter? The media had field days with those stories -- nothing was off limits then.

It is unfortunate that the children of politicians also come under the spotlight, but it is even more unfortunate that the mainstream media would tirelessly pursue certain stories to advance their (and the liberal pols they support) agenda than some others.

Conservatives leading in tweets

Liberals may have a strong grip on the mainstream media, but conservatives are dominating Twitter usage, notably with the most popular #tcot hashtag. Conservative tweets are gathering so much steam that liberals are paying attention and trying to counter the #tcot wave. Thanks to the efforts of Republican strategist Michael P. Leahy, there's even a site for the #tcot community, Top Conservatives On Twitter (now also part of our Reading List).

Manny Aragon (D-NM) now is going to prison to serve a 67-month sentence for corruption. Don't expect the mainstream media to jump on this. Especially the fact the he's a Democrat. Oh well, if he had not been sentenced, maybe he could've gotten a position in Obama's cabinet. I hear that Geithner needs some help...

I mean, CNN has a health piece about the First Lady's tone arms.

Time, on the other hand, feels compelled to inform readers about what cola Team Obama prefers.

CNN and Time, I'd like two minutes of my life back please.

What the media giveth, the media taketh

There is no doubt that the media's love affair with Obama propelled him to stardom and into the White House, but it's starting to look like a backlash is brewing over his administration's unfair treatment of some media members.

Also, Obama's irritated response to some press members doesn't help.

And so it begins: what the media gives, the media can take away.

Surprise! Obama on Time's cover...again

I'm thinking that magazines like Time are desperate for sales, but in flooding their magazines time and time (no pun intended) again with Obama on the cover, they are actually devaluating their worth. No more "collectors edition" for sure.

Where's the free in free press?

Can you believe Obama has a list of press members who've been told they will be called upon during a press conference? We know Obama loves the teleprompter, but it's laughable that a U.S. President cannot handle the heat from the press.

Blame goes to the press members, too. Are some of them plain worried about keeping their jobs? So they play it safe by cozying up with PEBO and his team. It's no wonder newspapers are going the way of dinosaurs.

Coulter banned on NBC

According to the Drudge Report, controversial conservative author Ann Coulter is banned from appearing on NBC:

"We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now. It's such a downer. It's just not the time, and it's not what our audience wants, either."

That's probably true. Whoever watches NBC probably isn't interested in Coulter's criticism of liberals. But a complete ban based on the reasoning that she's critical of our president-elect? NBC ought to be ashamed! Why didn't they ban those who were highly critical of President Bush? The elite media double standard at its best.

Bailout for newspaper is nonsense

The Bristol Press is about to be extinct because its publisher Journal Register is in too much debt. A local lawmaker from Connecticut, Frank Nicastro, wants to be its savior and has asked the state government for assistance, citing "The media is a vitally important part of America."

That's very true, but how can a newspaper be objective if it is receiving government money? Free press wouldn't be free in that sense.

Arrogant Obama lectures reporter

The president-elect should learn to take the heat instead of lecturing a reporter about wasting his questions! How rude.

Will there be a brewing backlash from the media? The mainstream media was enamored of Obama and helped him get elected. With the latest Blagojevich scandal it seems Obama and his team aren't very fond of the media anymore...

The purge begins...

The headline this morning on Drudge: The Big Purge... The NY Post, Dallas Morning News, and Washington Times were given the boot off the Obama plane. Interestingly, these three newspapers endorsed McCain a few days ago.

Well, there's really nothing wrong with that. The Obama campaign can invite and kick out whoever it wants. It's just funny that they did this soon after the publications endorsed the opposing candidate.

Counting down...

In less than a week will Americans cast votes for their next leader in the most important job in the world. The race is still close according to polls with better track records. Other media-sponsored polls have Sen. Obama leading many points. The media has already picked its winner.

But most polls have Obama still under 50%, and that means a good 10% or more are still undecided. These are the folks that'll decide the outcome of the Electoral College and determine which candidate reaches the magic 270 electoral votes.

It's been said that America is a center-right country. Obama's surge and consistency in polling numbers certainly question that. Here is a community-organizer-turned-politician from Chicago with an affinity to Marxism and calls left-wing nut Bill Ayers a friend. Without a doubt Sen. Obama is the most left-leaning presidential candidate in U.S. history. But he's probably also the most charismatic and eloquent -- a celebrity in the media's eyes -- and one of the youngest. More importantly, he made history by becoming the first black presidential candidate of a major political party. That's something all Americans should be proud of.

However, Americans should also be proud of their unique heritage in the context of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, two of the most important documents in Western democracy. The Declaration tells the truth of our "unalienable Rights... Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." The Consitution starts in its preamble with "We the people..."

Which candidate offers us a closer ideology to what our Founding Fathers had in mind? Right to life -- denied by pro-choice activists. Right to liberty -- limited by leftist lawyers and judges. Pursuit of happiness -- something the government is more than happy (no pun intended) to take its share with taxation.

So ask yourself: Which candidate cannot bring himself to acknowledge that life begins at conception, even though he's a Christian? Which candidate desires a court with activist judges? And which candidate thinks taxes, not opportunities, are a way to achieve fairness in society?

We the people... have we lost sight of the principles this great nation was founded on? Have we been caught up in the celebrity culture of modern day? Have we become so selfish that we no longer care for the devastation we could cause to our children and grandchildren? Yes, we the people...

Death of journalism

Many has said that 2008 is the year journalism died. The media bias in this campaign season has been too apparent, and thanks to it Sen. Obama has a celebrity cult following. The bias has been so obvious that even a seasoned journalist, Michael Malone, cannot stand it any longer.

The end of journalism according to a Democrat

Orson Scott Card, an author, columnist, and Democrat, writes in the Meridian about the whole subprime fiasco and how journalists ignored the facts. His words aren't very flattering:

Your job, as journalists, is to tell the truth. That's what you claim you do, when you accept people's money to buy or subscribe to your paper.

But right now, you are consenting to or actively promoting a big fat lie — that the housing crisis should somehow be blamed on Bush, McCain, and the Republicans. You have trained the American people to blame everything bad — even bad weather — on Bush, and they are responding as you have taught them to.

Ouch!!! The truth hurts, especially coming from a Democrat against the left-leaning MSM. Kudos to Mr. Card for setting aside partisanship and presenting the facts.
