Alan Colmes dug up this story about Palin's support for hunting wolves in order to control and study the predator's population in several Alaskan regions. The Left has a problem with this, of course, because it involves guns and animals. Leave the wolves alone, they'd say!
But wait... The purpose of hunting these wolves is to preserve and protect select moose and caribou populations. Why? Because believe it or not, many Alaskan families don't go to the grocery store to buy meat. They hunt moose for its meat, and I'd guess killing one or two would be enough meat for a year. According to the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game press release:
Removing wolves is one part of ADF&G's efforts to restore and increase selected moose and caribou populations which provide food for Alaskan families.
Perhaps the Left should advocate opening several Super Wal*Marts in Alaska so that these families can get their meat supplies and allow the wolves to kill as many moose and caribou as they can. But doesn't the Left love those poor moose and caribou too?
